So we’re doing “themes” with our fashion at work and I was told by the originator of this idea to not do Doctor Who. Well, sorry, but I DO WHAT I WANT.
Anyway, these are the conditions I’ve set for myself:
- I will only dress as the classic Doctors (1-8)
- Using only what’s in my wardrobe
- In chronological order
- And not repeating a Doctor twice.
So here’s me as One! (Before anyone asks - YES I’M WEARING PANTS. I’M JUST REALLY PALE AND THE LIGHTING REALLY SUCKS.) Pardon the shit-tastic bathroom selfie but you take what you can get at 7:45am.
For the shirt I used an ivory satin sleeveless top I bought at Goodwill. It’s a staple in my work wardrobe so it was fairly easy to incorporate it into this.
The blazer is my black blazer from Wal-Mart that I got years ago. It is unreally hot - like, this was THE worst week to cosplay as a Doctor who wears long sleeves. So by the time we opened I was already sweating bollocks.
The khakis are from Old Navy and are meant to be the Doctor’s checked pants but this is what I have to work with so shut up I did my best okay.
You can’t see them, but I’m wearing my black workshoes along with argyle socks. The shoes are a requirement for me at work (I don’t want to cut my feet off by the end of the day) and…something about the Doctor says “argyle socks”, right?
Now that necktie…thing. Full disclosure: it’s the belt from another one of my shirts. It’s the closest thing I had to a necktie remotely similar to what One wears and I think, given that, I did a decent job with it.
Hairstyle: One wears his hair back out of his face, and I can do that easily, but it’s boring. So I decided to borrow a bit from Barbara and do a bit of a pompadour. Two elastics and a small army’s worth of bobby pins later and we have it!
Tomorrow (and the rest of the week) will be another Doctor, so stay tuned. Hopefully I do a better job with the Doctors to come ;P
